Garden Remodeling To Spice Up Your Garden

See more in Landscaping Ideas

Just like anybody who loves gardening, garden remodeling is something that I do in a small way all of the time.

There are many ways of changing the garden around and adding interest. You can draw attention to anything in the garden that you want to make into a point of focus. This could be a new garden sculpture or certain plants.

If it is plants, you probably want to change the focal point from season to season. One season you might have certain flowers all blossoming in a block: perhaps one variety in different colors, or even picking out a pattern with the colors. At other times of year, areas of variegated foliage can be very attention getting.

Seats are another item that can add interest to the garden and of course they can also offer a nice place to rest and relax while you admire your work.

Some gardeners add mirrors in their gardens. When strategically placed, these can enhance the garden by bringing reflected light into darker areas of the garden. They can also make the garden seem bigger, just like a room.

Another thing that mirrors can do is to lead a visitor on into other parts of the garden. This is especially true in larger gardens and it can make the garden a lot of fun to visit.

Carefully chosen and trimmed hedges will add interest to the garden and have the added benefit of giving protection to the neighboring plants. Taller hedges can also offer privacy to certain parts of the garden.

Water features are always a favorite, whether it is a pond, a traditional fountain or something more adventurous. The sound of running water brings a calm and relaxing atmosphere to the garden and just hearing a fountain play can be very cooling in summer.

Birds love water features too. This is something that can help bring a lot more birds to your garden, especially in the dryer months of summer.

Rocks, pebbles and stones are good to add when you are remodeling the garden. Large rocks can be used as a natural form of garden sculpture. Pebbles and stones can be used to build pathways that will seem more organic than using concrete slabs.

Other ideas that you might want to consider include shells around flower beds, wind chimes, old wooden artefacts like cart wheels, or even an aviary. There are so many things you can do, it’s no surprise that garden remodeling becomes a permanent hobby!
