With Hydroponics Going Green

Lately it seems,everyone is going “green”. But they also demand that ALL items that enter their body be produced organic,not only do people demand organic foods and drinks. What exactly does this mean and how can people benefit from this craze?
Hydroponics
Hydroponics is the answer. Hydroponic plants produced in dedicated hydroponic grow systems have the potential to satisfy people’s craving for “green” living. Healthier plants and healthier profits for those willing to accept the hydroponic challenge,this niche market can produce.

For a product to be considered organic, it must meet specific criteria. Without the use of conventional pesticides or artificial fertilizers,it must be grown. It must also not be grown with human waste or use food additives. Indoor gardening typically meets this criteria. However, some hydroponic grow systems are more suited to this purpose than others.
Hydroponics
The most difficult components necessary for hydroponic producers to abstain in order to produce organic crops are the artificial fertilizers. Leaving out the artificial fertilizers seems difficult, but it can be easier if you have a dedicated grow box specifically designed for your hydroponics. Grow boxes provide the best opportunity for indoor gardeners to carefully monitor their plants and maximize their “green” potential while still producing the organic plants coveted by health-conscious consumers.

Before you can officially market your product as “organic”,however, there are other steps necessary. To get organic certification and the ability to use the organic label for your hydroponics, you must submit an application to the government. If you produce less than a particular dollar amount a year, there could be exceptions to the rule.

The ability to grow organic products is there, but the technique may be tough for the average grower. You typically must have organic products evaluated by the government in order to certify them as such. Then you can still grow them organically and just call them “naturally grown”,if you don’t want to get the government’s permission to use the organic label.
