If you need a storage shed you are probably wondering how to build a shed? If you are good with tools, this will not pose too great a challenge for you. All you will require to get started is having the proper blueprint to utilize in purchasing and constructing with. With the wrong plans, this can be a tedious task. In contrast, this will be a simple job if you have the correct plans.
Step one is to gauge the area in which you wish to place the shed. This will help you figure what size shed you can build. Once you have figured this it is time to buy your DIY shed plans.
Once you have done this, you will have the information needed in order to recognize which goods you should purchase. You will have to buy all the wood needed for completing the project. Make sure you have your tools lined up that you will need too. Your plans can help you with this.
Once you have all your lumber and tools, you have to chop your wood to size. Having all the pieces of lumber cut and ready will save you a lot of time in assembly.
Your first step is to lay all of the framework on the floor and nail it together. Nail guns are the most commonly used tool for this task today. You must make sure the floor’s framework is squared once you have completed nailing it. At this point, you need to put the boards down for the floor. This is usually sheets of plywood cut to fit. Remember to nail the floorboards securely.
Then, lay out your side supporters and create the framework for each side. Remember to leave an opening for the door. Then place the sheets of plywood in place for the walls and nail in. Now place all outer and inner trim work onto the foundation as is outlined in the blueprint. Each step varies at this point, depending upon the shed’s style.
After the walls are up, it is time to put the rafters and framework up for the roof. Nail them in place while consulting your plans. Then enclosed the shed with plywood for the roof. If any wood needs trimming off do it now.
Attach the doors using the appropriate hardware. For them to operate correctly, you must ensure that they fit properly in the space you provided for them. Ending up with mismatched doors is probably the worst case scenario.
Sand your shed and choose a color to paint it. Be sure to check that you are using outdoor paint, so it will withstand weather conditions. It is a good idea to buy roof shingles for your shed, this is a personal preference and it is not necessary. Naturally, you will need to learn how to do your own shingles before attempting it yourself.
So now that you know how to build a shed go get your plans! You will save a huge amount of money over buying a ready-built one. Once you build your shed, you will be proud of the great accomplishment you have made. So go and build your shed today!
