There are numerous people today who are not only concerned about the environment but are looking at ways to use their garden to help save the ecosystem. For example, it’s possible to make our gardens appealing for wildlife and this can create a nice place for us to relax and experience nature right in front of us. It is a shame when hedges and trees are replaced by fences and less natural garden designs. If you’d like to have wildlife living in your garden, here are some suggestions.
You’d probably enjoy nothing more than to have a number of species of birds visiting your garden and chirping away. By having a lot of trees and hedges, birds will probably easily come and establish themselves. You can establish bird tables so that you are able to leave food for them. Providing a source of water for the birds is also good to have in your garden. It is just a good idea to help them in the winter by breaking through ice when extreme conditions set it. You can introduce new plant life into the garden that can deliver food such as berries and fruit for them.
When considering ponds in your garden these don’t simply attract birds as they are good for frogs and toads which can help with natural pest control around the garden. Natural and organic pest control is what you want to achieve and with some research you will find many options. The design of your pond or other water feature can attract an assortment of animals. Certain animals can use your pond as shelter if you have rocks and stones located around it. If you want your garden to be safe and welcoming, consulting with a garden expert will probably be your best option.
Though you probably want to have an orderly garden, you may want to have a section to keep logs and leaves so hedgehogs can set up. You may also do a little analysis about what types of flowers or plants would be good for your garden. You’ll find that some will attract certain types of bugs while others will attract certain type of animals. By having the right combination of plants and flowers, you can have a garden that is filled with different animals and insects living together in harmony.
It truly is great to possess a relaxing area of your home that is filled with wildlife. If you are using your creativity and do your homework you will be surprised at the many different types of animals, birds and insects that come to visit your garden.
