When I went outside in the cold this morning to get the morning paper, I suddenly felt warm. I noticed the first forerunner of the spring: In the sunshine some blades of grass were peaking out of the snow!
I got really enthusiastic about getting prepared for this year’s work in the garden!
I can advise you to get prepared early as well. It is now that you get the best discounts on services and gardening equipment. If you get it now you can save a lot of money.

Application of Lawn Fertilization
The first thing I always do at this time of the year is to purchase some good fertilizer. Applying fertilizer helps the lawn to get up from winter sleep, grow faster and to green after the winter. Since I do not like to have unwanted insects in my garden in summer, I install a special crab grass control application.
Just call, a local lawn care company if you do not want to do these preparations on your own or if you do not have enough time. TruGreen is competent in all kinds of landscape gardening and you can choose from several services that treat your lawn, trees and shrubs. So TruGreen is a good choice if the maintenance of your garden is too time compensating.
Prepare your Lawn Mower
The task I like most in the garden is mowing my lawn, especially in a golf course fashion or in the manner of a baseball outfield. Before I can get started the lawn mower needs a check up in early spring.
First of all the oil needs to be checked, because fresh oil in the tank avoids a broken motor. Also change the spark plug and check the belts. To get a good mowing result you have to sharpen the blades of your mower. Of course, if you do not want to do it yourself you can get professional help.
In the shops things are ready for the new season. The runners are advertising for special service and discounts. The shops are especially busy in February and March, so do not wait and get your mower ready as soon as possible. In March the shops are presumably over-booked. And one of the worst scenarios is that your grass overgrows too early in spring because you cannot mow it.
The perfect time for the first cut is when the magnolia trees are blooming. The buds of magnolia are the sign that the temperature of the soil is not frozen anymore and that your lawn is growing as well.
So if you want to enjoy a really nice garden in summertime, get prepared for it now. If you pay attention to these tips there won’t be too much weed and you can use the time for nice things as lying in the pool!
