Tips For Choosing The Right Lawn Mower For Your Garden Lawn
See more in Gardening Methods
Cutting the grass in your garden is essential if you want to keep your garden healthy and looking good. Choosing the correct type of garden lawnmower will make the job much easier and will give great results. There are a lot of fantastic garden lawnmowers out there but choosing one that is suitable can be difficult. There are a number of factors you need to consider including the size of your garden and budget.
Type Of Lawn Mower
Petrol Mowers – The main advantage of a petrol lawnmower is that it has no electric cable so can easily cope with large gardens. The fact that they are petrol fueled means that they are far more powerful than electric mowers and can breeze through overgrown grass. The only real issues with petrol mowers is that they make a lot of noise and need to be maintained much like a car or motorbike.
Electric Lawnmowers – People that have smaller gardens will find that buying an electric mower is going to be the best solution. The main advantage of standard electric garden lawnmowers is the price. They are typically much cheaper than any other type of mower and are easy to maintain. One of the only drawbacks with the electric mower is that you have to have a power source that is nearby and they are not as powerful.
Sit Down Mowers – If you are fortunate enough to own a mansion then ride on garden lawnmowers are perfect for cutting your grass. If you have a lot of lawn with various shapes then a ride on lawnmower is going to be the best solution. The main problem with this sort of mower is that they are the most expensive you will find although sitting down whilst cutting the lawn is a great idea.
Blades
Rotary Blades – Rotary style garden lawnmowers are the most common type that you will find. These are the ones that have blades that rotate. The problem with rotary blades is that they hack away at the grass leaving a slightly torn blade of grass. If you get one with a good, heavy roller on the back it will help to give your lawn a striped look.
Cylinder Mowers – Cylinder mowers come complete with circular blades similar to traditional manual mowers that are pushed around the lawn. This can be a lot of effort but there are petrol powered cylinder mowers, however they do cost a lot. Cylinder garden lawnmowers will leave your lawn in almost an immaculate condition.
