Top Tips For Choosing A Lawn Mower For Your Garden

See more in Gardening Methods

To keep your garden a healthy green colour you need to make sure you cut the grass on a regular basis. Choosing the correct type of garden lawnmower will make the job much easier and will give great results. With so many great garden lawn mowers available finding the right one can sometimes be a tricky task. You need to consider the size and shape of your garden and then you will be able to choose an appropriate lawnmower.

Type Of Lawn Mower

Petrol Mowers – One of the great things about petrol mowers is that they don’t have any cables restricting them making them incredibly practicle for large gardens. The fact that they are petrol fueled means that they are far more powerful than electric mowers and can breeze through overgrown grass. The only real issues with petrol mowers is that they make a lot of noise and need to be maintained much like a car or motorbike.

Electric Mowers – If you have a small garden then an electric mower is going to be the best choice for you. Out of all garden lawnmowers, electric ones tend to be the cheapest that you can get. They are easy to maintain and use for the price that you pay, which makes them a bargain. The only drawback is that they are the least powerful.

Ride On Mowers – If you are fortunate enough to own a mansion then ride on garden lawnmowers are perfect for cutting your grass. If you have a lot of lawn with various shapes then a ride on lawnmower is going to be the best solution. The main problem with this sort of mower is that they are the most expensive you will find although sitting down whilst cutting the lawn is a great idea.

Blades

Rotary Blades – The most common types of garden lawnmowers all use rotary blades to cut lawns. You can tell they are rotary as they have blades that rotate. The problem with rotary blades is that they hack away at the grass leaving a slightly torn blade of grass. This is why it is important to get one with a good roller if you want a striped effect on your lawn.

Cylinder Blades – Cylinder mowers come complete with circular blades similar to traditional manual mowers that are pushed around the lawn. Manual cylinders are a lot of effort to use but you can get ones that are petrol powered the only problem is they tend to be expensive. The big benefit though is that cylinder garden lawnmowers can achieve a flawless effect for your lawn.
